Mount ISO image in Windows 10 / Windows 10

There is a great new feature of Windows 10 that has made our lives easier: now you can mount ISO images in Windows 10 without any third party software!

I’ve been playing around with mounting various ISO images and it works great so far. Actually, this feature has been around since Windows 8, but since most people don’t bother with Windows 8, they don’t know about it..

The process is very simple and straightforward, which I will explain below.

Mount ISO image in Windows 10 with right click

The easiest way to mount the ISO mount is to simply right click on the ISO file and select Mountain.

Mount ISO image in Windows 10 using Explorer

The second way to mount an ISO image is to go to Windows Explorer and select the file. Windows 10 will detect that it is an ISO image and will display another tab in the ribbon interface named Disk Image Tool. In the Manage section, click Mountain.

It’s about it! Once the image has mounted, you should see it appear as a new drive in My Computer.

By default, Windows 10 will only select the next available letter when mounting the ISO image, but if you want to change the drive letter you have to right click on My Computer and go to Manage.

Then click on Disk Management and right click on the drive letter and select Change drive name and path.

Now just select the drive letter that you want to use for the mounted ISO image.
